Seongmin Kim is an artist and designer whose practice is structured as a series of speculative scenarios, each initiated through a “what if” question that opens up spaces for debate and discussion.

She is particularly interested in how the SF genre reflects current conditions of deficiency—where something is missing, misaligned, or yet to be understood—and how these conditions can be staged as states, systems, and behaviours. Her work focuses on the thresholds where human perception can no longer fully recognise or cope with the world. It interrogates the gaps between the visible and the perceived, the discrepancies between the environment and the body, and the changing structures of perception following the intervention of technological systems.

Operating across the overlap between artistic practice and scientific enquiry, this process is a mix of science fiction, science fact, and design for the near future.
